Cantilever stool

The newspaper and a glass of wine: The cantilever chair, designed by Anton Lorenz, is an elegant and comfortable seat that offers relaxation from everyday life. Anton Lorenz, Hungarian-born businessman, recognized the potential of Mart Stam’s “cantilever” idea early on and implemented it in this armchair, but initially in a rigid form.

Much later, this idea was taken up by Tecta and further developed in the workshops in Lauenförde. The proportions have been refined, the design improved and the kinetic movement function added. An almost invisible intervention: without any visible technology, just by moving and shifting the body, the be-seater can move continuously from the upright sitting position to the relaxed lying position.
Marcel Breuer’s “dream of weightless sitting” comes within reach with this armchair. The hand-woven seat and the frame with its timeless lines can be coordinated in various materials and color combinations.
