Tecta Unternehmen Herstellung

Made in Germany

Our furniture is 100% Made in Germany. Take our Model B25 cantilever chair, for example: the wickerwork is hand-woven by artisan weavers at our workshop in Lauenförde. Our employees take pride in their work and each chair bears the personal stamp of its weaver on its frame. The polypropylene fibres used in its production are manufactured exclusively for Tecta in the Sauerland region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The tubular steel that forms its backbone is premium quality steel sourced from Germany's Rheinland. The chair’s precision-engineered frame is formed, polished, and hand-finished by our partners in Upper Franconia. The traditions of artisan manufacturing have continued to

thrive at Tecta into the present day. This commitment to the highest quality in craftsmanship enables Tecta to manufacture the works of Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in all their glory, right down to the sophisticated double-woven wickerwork that set these Bauhaus originals apart from their peers.

Personalised Design

As craft manufacturers we specialise in the production of custom-made objects. Individual sizing, personalised fabrics and special functions: our workshops produce unique and evocative designs that are tailored to the individual. Meticulous in our dedication to form and function, Tecta produces furniture that makes a statement. We like to think that in doing so we are taking a stand against the growing flood of products that frequently threatens to sweep consumers away.

Joinery

Located in the heart of the heavily forested region of Solling-Vogler, Tecta has evolved into a modern business while continuing to cultivate a proud tradition of artisan woodworking.

Timber is a natural, living material and no two tabletops look the same. The slightest variation in lighting will bring out different textures within a wood surface, heightening its allure as its capillaries gleam in the sun's rays. It is this vitality that makes furniture crafted from wood so appealing. Like all natural materials, wood responds to its environment. Wood absorbs and releases humidity at a sedate pace, greatly enhancing the indoor climate in any setting. Only the best

of woods make the grade for our furniture. We personally source all of the timber that is processed in our joinery from local suppliers who employ gentle drying techniques that bring out the best in this natural material.

Wickerwork

Weaving is an ancient artisanal handicraft. The traditional weaving techniques applied at our workshops in Lauenförde call for strong hands, great skill and unparalleled dexterity. Basket-making is a tradition here in the region, especially in the town of Dahlhausen. In latter days the willow switches used in the production of baskets were sourced from the trees lining the region's waterways. As late as the 1960s there were few households here which were not involved either in the production or the sale of baskets and – later – wicker furniture. This tradition has continued to thrive at Tecta into the present day. This commitment to the highest quality in craftsmanship enables Tecta to

manufacture the works of Marcel Breuer, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich in all their glory, right down to the sophisticated double-woven wickerwork that set these Bauhaus originals apart from their peers.

Upholstery

The true art of upholstery begins where the methods of industrial production fail to deliver. Craftsmanship is still a matter of tradition in our upholstery studio. It is here that each item of furniture acquires its distinctive look. It takes meticulous attention to detail and a wealth of experience in working with diverse fabrics and materials to create a masterpiece. Employing traditional techniques, our artisan upholsterers use only the finest materials to produce objects which are both unmistakable and full of character.

Metalwork

Marcel Breuer faced huge challenges when he first began to experiment with tubular steel – so much so that he deserted the Bauhaus studios in favour of a workshop at the Junkers aircraft factory. Thankfully the techniques used in the production of tubular steel furniture have since been perfected. Our in-house metalworking facilities and our partners in Upper Franconia produce precision-engineered frames of the highest quality. Our range of services spans the complete manufacturing process – from bending, stamping and welding through to surface finishing. All chrome and nickel plating is conducted in compliance with strict environmental regulations. Patented innovations such as our

»tube aplati« and »tube oblique« designs are manufactured using state-of-the-art tools and machinery. As craft manufacturers we specialise in the production of custom-made objects.
